2.1 OPIS ZANIMANJA (description of the occupation)

Carpenter handles piled material dried to standard humidity and manufactures furniture, construction joinery and other interior furnishing products. It also manufactures products of various types of plate material (chipboard, MDF, veneer boards, panel boards and the like). It uses cutting, flattening, milling, turning, drilling and grinding techniques. In addition, it performs the final treatment of surfaces with liquid materials.

Carpenters can be employed in industry, construction and crafts. Hiring of joiner is possible in companies dealing with furniture design and shipbuilding. The carpenters can also work on maintenance of residential blocks, and in salon furniture as service providers.

There is a huge demand in the labor market.

5.2 Rizici i radni uvjeti (Risks and working conditions)

The work is done mainly in indoor areas (factory halls, craft workshops). Carpenters are exposed to dirt, dust and dangers of injury. It is mostly in a standing position with frequent wavering. Workers working in the industry can, depending on the scope and organization of work, work in multiple shifts.

5.3 Specifični zahtjevi (Specific requirements)

In order to perform carpentry work, it is desirable to have a healthy musculoskeletal system as it is mainly in a standing position. It is also desirable to have a pronounced skill and strength of hand, ability to represent and understand spatial relationships and good coordination of vision and movement. Due to high exposure to dust, it is important to have a healthy respiratory system.
